Apprentice Lineperson
The Apprentice Lineperson assists with installation,operation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical power lines, distribution, substation facilities and systems.

- Attends to service calls concerning power outages and electrical problems.
- Receives training both in book/classroom skills and on the job skills. Must continue to pass ongoing training to proceed to higher skill/job levels.
- Operates motorized equipment, use hand tools, and perform routine maintenance on electrical equipment, machinery, and tools.
- Stocks and services vehicles to be equipped to respond to emergency situations.
- Responds to emergency calls.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Comfortable working with heights.
- Able to:
- work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
- walk, climb, and work from ladders, or at various heights, on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally/physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.
- meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket truck and other existing equipment as identified by truck manufacturer.
- climb a power pole using climbing hooks and belt.
- drive all vehicles assigned to the line crew, operate digger derrick to set poles, and use jackhammer, etc.
- work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) required.
- Responds to emergencies during holidays, weekends and national disasters.
- May require travel away from show up area.
- OCCASIONAL(up to 33%): Sitting, Kneeling, and Crawling
- FREQUENT(up to 66 %): Stooping, Squatting, Body Twisting, Manual Dexterity, Reading, Climbing Ladders, Climbing On/Off Truck, Climbing Poles, Gripping, and Climbing Stairs
- CONTINUOUS(up to 100%): Standing, Walking, Sense of Touch, Speaking Clearly, Seeing Distant, Seeing, Reaching, Range of Motion, Hearing-Speech Range, Depth Perception, Color Vision, Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting Over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., Balancing, Lifting Up to 10 lbs., and Lifting Up to 50 lbs.
