The Job

Assist in surgery related work (surgery setup, cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment, inventory), manage preoperative animal care (administration of preoperative drugs, euthanasia), coordinate and manage regular animal care/husbandry. Drug inventory and ordering. Maintenance of the vivarium space and general laboratory work.

Essential Duties

• Preparation of the surgical space
• Preparation of animals for surgery and drug handling
• Management and coordination of pig deliveries, husbandry
• Surgery space clean up and maintenance
• General lab work
  
  

Preferred Education And Experience

• Minimum required high school diploma or GED
• Preferred ALAT, LAT, or LATG certification
• At least two years of experience in animal handling/lab work
  
  

Preferred Skills, Qualifications, Or Technical Proficiencies

• Familiarity with animal care, handling of animals and drug administration
• Familiarity with IACUC and/or AALAS certification
• Expirience with sterile procedures and sterilization equipment
• Organizational and coordinating skills
• Working experience in a laboratory setting
