Description

We are seeking a skilled Analytics Engineer to enhance the analysts' capabilities of the Business Intelligence team by building accurate and optimized data pipelines, models, and datasets using SQL, dbt, Python, and Power BI. In this role, you will become a subject matter expert (SME) of our data platforms, transforming raw data into structured, high-performant datasets and creating detailed data dictionaries. Your expertise will ensure data accuracy and accessibility, enabling our analysts to efficiently perform EDA and generate valuable insights, visualizations, and reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create and enhance performant data models that support robust analysis and BI products, using SQL, dbt, Python and other data transformation tools.
  • Build and refine datasets and dashboards in Power BI, incorporating complex DAX calculations, KPIs, and visualization best practices.
  • Partner closely with the analysts to understand their requirements for exploratory data analysis (EDA) and data models, offering support and guidance throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and dbt pipelines that assist the analysts in extracting and manipulating data for their analytical needs.
  • Use SQL tasks, Python, and other automation tools to streamline data processes and auditing, ensuring datasets are updated accurately and on schedule.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) to the team on the company’s data platforms, offering insights and guidance on data structures, best practices, and usage. Provide mentorship and training as needed.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries, for data models and pipelines to facilitate understanding and usability among team members.
  • Implement data monitoring practices to maintain high data quality and integrity. Address and resolve any data quality issues proactively.
  • Work closely with the Data Operations team for the seamless handover of data pipelines that become routine and should be integrated into the company’s Data Warehouse.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in a Data/Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics or similar role building end-to-end data and analytics solutions through ETL, data modeling, BI, and analysis.
  • 3+ years of experience with Power BI development.
  • Expertise in writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries against large datasets.
  • Highly proficient in building scalable data models and dimensional modeling tailored for BI and analysis.
  • Strong experience in SQL, dbt, and Python for data transformation and automation.
  • Skilled in dissecting and understanding the design and data flows of raw transactional SQL source systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and Snowflake platforms a strong plus.
  • Experience leveraging and creating APIs a plus.
