Position: Activities Director

Location: Melbourne, Florida

Schedule: Full-Time | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: $25-$30/hour

Job Summary

Melbourne Healthcare and Rehabilitation is seeking a compassionate and creative Activities Director to lead our facility’s activities department. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and oversee engaging, person-centered programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate activities programs that meet the individualized needs of residents.
• Develop and coordinate recreational opportunities appropriate to the resident population.
• Review and update departmental policies and procedures at least annually.
• Coordinate community outreach and develop partnerships that reflect residents’ interests.
• Complete administrative tasks, including forms, reports, and documentation, as required.
• Arrange and coordinate transportation for resident outings and appointments.
• Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations and professional standards.
• Direct and manage all departmental staff and functions.
• Participate in facility surveys and inspections as needed.
• Document activity participation, progress notes, and care plan updates in accordance with facility policy.
• Ensure all activity records are accurate, informative, and resident-centered.
• Maintain a reference library of materials and resources to support quality programming.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of college education; degree preferred but not required.
• Must meet one of the following:
• Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or licensed activities professional eligible for certification.
• At least two (2) years of experience in a social or recreation program within the last five (5) years, including one (1) year full-time in a healthcare setting.
• Qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
• Completion of a state-approved activities training course.
