Bachelor’s degree in education or related field with three years of related management experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and conflict resolution. Ability to analyze professional journals and information, write reports and procedures, and effectively present information to a variety of audiences. Information technology proficiency including MS Office. Willingness to provide on-call center support as warranted.
Preferred
Master’s degree with five years of related experience.

Position Summary
The Academic Manager/Disability Coordinator plans, coordinates and administers the programmatic activities of the academic department and supervises academic instruction and testing, student class scheduling, evening/weekend studies, and driver’s education.
Essential Functions
- Supervise the work and coordinate the activities of assigned staff and provide training to other staff as needed in support of quality student services.
- Serve as the Co-Disability Coordinator to ensure reasonable accommodations are documented and provided to students ongoing, and co-chair the Reasonable Accommodation Committee.
- Review new student transcripts to determine academic trajectory and schedule into appropriate academic programs.
- Plan curricula in alignment with state and Job Corps standards and collaborate with third party providers of instructional technology platforms and online HSD programs for ongoing quality programming.
- Establish and monitor department goals to meet Job Corps outcome measurement system and company goals.
- Oversee the student scheduling process to accommodate individual needs and ensure students have a balanced pursuit of academic and technical training goals.
- Oversee lesson-plan development and ensure instructors have scheduled time to plan for classroom instruction and develop lesson plans.
- Assist instructors in developing remedial instruction.
- Conduct and document regular classroom observations to ensure quality instructional delivery, and to promote a safe and secure environment for students to learn.
- Implement and monitor the Evening/Weekend Studies program to meet PRH expectations for student enrichment to accelerate academic and technical achievement.
- Maintain strict compliance with data integrity standards in administering student tests, recording attainments, and documenting instructional hours.
- Provides on-call center support as warranted.
- Monitor supplies, equipment and instructional materials and submit work orders, purchase orders and requests as needed to support quality instruction.
- Continually evaluate program quality including educational technology and curricula, and initiate enhancements in collaboration with center leadership.
- Participate on the center workforce council and/or academic council and network with the community to promote student post-secondary and placement opportunities.
- Monitor Job Corps performance reports to adjust monthly projections to meet/exceed center goals.
- Collaborate with the HR department to maintain a roster of qualified teacher substitutes to ensure adequate coverage for instructional staff during absences.
- Monitor the student performance evaluation process to ensure instructors participate as required and establish appropriate short- and long-term goals for students’ successful program completion
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for instructors to improve their skills to meet students’ individual training needs.
- Participate in department meetings and all mandated PRH and Strategix training.
- Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property and adhere to safety practices.
- Promote a harassment-free environment.
- Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student’s personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.
