We have an opening for a 12-month Faculty - Electric Vehicles (VWA) at our Volkswagen Academy campus in Chattanooga!

Position Summary
This position provides an opportunity to teach in a live industry work setting, including access to industrial equipment and firsthand insight into industry needs.
The Volkswagen Academy campus provides a unique work environment that prepares students for a manufacturing career by developing both technical and professional skills. Our instructors lead by example in terms of expertise, professionalism, and a passion for learning.
This position provides course and lab instruction in the area of Basic Automotive Fundamentals, Electric Vehicle Fundamentals, and Electric Vehicle Maintenance. Understanding of Electric Vehicles and intrinsic motivation to stay up to date with technology developments a must. Systems integration of Industry 4.0 a plus. Course and curriculum development, evaluation of students, maintenance of attendance and grade records, and maintenance of 5S practices in all work, instructional and lab areas. Independent learning skills and the ability to manage a classroom are necessary.

Essential Funtions
Holistic Student Support
- Model compassionate professionalism as an example to students
- Understanding the idea that not everyone learns in the same way i.e. to improve the learning, we can tailor our strategies, rather than just trying harder, studying more, and so on.
- Integrate programs, activities, and initiatives to optimize the student experience
- Provide a list of student resources and introducing many possibilities for learning that go beyond the student’s current practices.
- Prompt students to select and try various study strategies.
- Monitor student progress to promote student success
- Provide counseling resources as needed.
- Develop, adapt, and improve programs and services in response to the needs of changing environments, populations served, and evolving institutional priorities.
- Provide educational opportunities and experiences to students in leadership, social responsibility, intercultural understanding, and global citizenship.
- Utilize classroom and lab instruction, student assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide an engaged learning experience to students.
- Ensure that each student has been presented with the material to successfully meet the learning objectives of each course within a student’s program of study
- Ensure that instructional materials and equipment are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, are properly maintained and are in working order prior to class time
- Maintain a solid understanding of College goals and priorities as they relate to the student experience.
- Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to ensure an active and engaged classroom experience for all students; maintain required certification and license
- Actively participate in meetings, review and analyze assessment data, compile reports, and meet academic and administrative deadlines
- Ensure campus compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory bodies’ guidelines, along with internal policies of the College.
- Utilize routine office software such as MS Office Suite, email, internet, and virtual meeting platforms.
- Lead in a manner that reflects the values of the College.
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences in verbal and written form.
- Represent the College and division professionally with internal and external constituents to further the purpose, values and mission of the College.
- Think strategically, to work collaboratively and to make decisions, both collaboratively and independently.
- Adapt to changing circumstances and to lead in an environment of change.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technology field, or an Associate’s degree in a engineering or technology field with certifications, or an Associate’s degree in a technology field and 2 years applicable work experience or ASE certifications and experience or by exception.
- Knowledge of Electric Vehicle Technology
- Teaching Experience preferred
- Automotive Production experience preferred
