Trauma Surgeon | Academic, Acute Care & Surgical Critical Care

The Queen’s Medical Center is seeking a full-time academic Trauma, Acute Care, and Surgical Critical Care Surgeon to join their Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. This role manages and cares for highly acute trauma and surgical patients at the State of Hawaii’s only ACS verified Level One Trauma Center. Surgeons in this role serve as the primary attending physician for the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) and the University of Hawaii’s ACGME accredited General Surgery Residency Program and their ACGME accredited Surgical Critical Care Fellowship.
This position combines clinical care, medical education, and scholarly activities in a collaborative environment with a multidisciplinary team. The Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Division emphasizes clinical excellence, teaching, and outreach, particularly to rural communities, while also advancing care though new technologies, including robotics and telemedicine.
Position Details:
- Full-time, 14 clinical shifts per month (days and nights)
- Provides 24/7 in-house call coverage for trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical ICU coverage.
- Call coverage is located at the Queen’s Manamana (main/Honolulu) campus only
- Non- clinical days are dedicated to teaching, scholarly work, and program support
- Eligible to receive a faculty appointment with the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine, appropriate to their training and experience
Compensation & Benefits:
- Compensation starts at $472,260
- Citizenship and productivity compensation also available

Qualifications and Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or ECFMG certified medical school.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii
- Board certified or board eligible in General Surgery, with experience working in an ACS verified Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Board certified or board eligible in Surgical Critical Care (preferred).
- Research and teaching activities are required.

The Queen’s Medical Center serves as the primary teaching hospital for majority the residencies and fellowships offered by the John A. Burns School of Medicine and the Hawai’i Residency Program. The Queen’s Medical Center is the only ACS verified Level 1 Trauma Center, the only Comprehensive Stroke Center, the only Magnet designated medical center, and has the only transplant program in Hawai’i.
