Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-focused Field Service Technician to support operations at a complex industrial water and wastewater treatment facility under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model. This role is critical to ensuring reliable, continuous plant performance, equipment uptime, and compliance with all safety and environmental standards.
The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, industrial experience, and a proactive, self-directed mindset. This individual will work as part of a high-performing team while also taking ownership of daily responsibilities in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment.
Job Summary
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for executing field service activities at customer sites in a safe and efficient manner. This role includes proactive troubleshooting of mechanical and process systems, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting equipment reliability. The technician will work on mechanical, electrical, and process equipment, identify safety risks, and ensure both company and customer assets are operated safely and effectively. This role includes direct customer interaction and may support multiple systems, locations, or sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor industrial water and wastewater treatment systems to ensure consistent production and quality
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, chemical feed systems, and other mechanical equipment
- Identify and respond to process upsets, alarms, and abnormal operating conditions in real time
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and operational data for compliance and performance tracking
- Assist with equipment repairs, system optimization, and continuous improvement efforts
- Follow all site-specific safety procedures, including LOTO, confined space, and chemical handling protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and site leadership
- Take ownership of company property and support a strong safety culture
Required Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working on industrial equipment
- Experience in an industrial environment (chemical plant, oil & gas, manufacturing, utilities, or water treatment)
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and process issues independently
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across shifts and functions
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency (data entry, reporting systems; SCADA/HMI experience preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in water or wastewater treatment operations
- Prior experience in continuous/process plant operations
- Technical degree, trade certification, or relevant post-secondary training
- Wastewater operator license or willingness to obtain

- Rotating shift schedule (days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required)

- Physical requirements including walking, lifting, climbing, and working in industrial environments
Education & Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2–5 years of technical work experience, preferably in industrial or commercial process environments
Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, etc.)
- Ability to obtain DOT medical card
- Clean driving record
- Ability to obtain CDL Class A or B with applicable endorsements
- Some travel may be required (20%–80% depending on division/location, including overnight stays)
