This role involves adhering to safety protocols, managing student behavior, and providing a positive transportation experience. The driver plays a vital role in ensuring student safety and fostering a welcoming environment during routes.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate school buses and commercial vehicles following traffic laws and safety regulations
- Transport students to various locations, including schools, activities, and events
- Enforce behavior management policies and maintain order on the bus
- Conduct vehicle inspections for safety and cleanliness
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and dispatchers
- Assist students, including those with special needs or requiring support
- Maintain accurate records of routes, attendance, and incidents
- Follow all transportation regulations and guidelines
- Proven experience in bus or commercial driving preferred
- Strong communication skills, especially with children and parents
- Mechanical knowledge for routine inspections is advantageous
- Experience working with children or in childcare demonstrates understanding of student needs
- Multilingual abilities or experience in related fields beneficial
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record; CDL with passenger endorsement preferred
- Ability to write reports and documentation related to transportation activities
