SUMMARY
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, daily management of the procurement and shipment of parts and supplies for all of CAPS operations. Under the direction of the Director of Engineering & Procurement, the Purchasing Agent will be involved in many aspects of CAPS and CVRF operations and will be responsible for warehouse operations, including managing Shipping/Receiving and inventory. The Purchasing Agent will assist in resolving any warranty or missing/damaged product claims. This position will be involved with Tero Marine order tracking and creating new orders as needed. Other responsibilities include handling PO tracking, vendor management, shipping and freight arrangements, driving around Seattle to pick up parts in will call, and palletizing parts to be delivered to the shipping companies used for transport to Dutch Harbor.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate with Director of Engineering & Procurement, Port Engineer’s and Vessel Department Heads for the purchasing of parts and supplies needed for the commercial fishing vessels.
- Issue and track purchase orders, review and fulfill requisitions.
- Coordinate shipping of parts and supplies to Dutch harbor, AK and Seattle, WA in a timely manner.
- Coordinate ordering and delivery of shipyard requisitions for each vessel while in shipyard.
- Manage CAPS warehouse, including inventory management.
- Monitor inventory of long lead time items and recurring purchases.
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with key suppliers .
- Help resolve systemic, reoccurring supplier issues.
- Must be willing to work on call hours during a fishing season
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Direct experience in a purchasing, and shipping / receiving environment with direct responsibility for procurement of parts and supplies preferred.
- Candidates must possess the ability to represent the company in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience in Alaskan fisheries, specifically pollock, cod, crab, is preferred.
- Ideal candidates will be familiar with commercial fishing vendors and service providers in the Seattle area and will possess a strong understanding of commercial fishing vessels and their equipment.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Successful candidates must be highly organized with a positive "can do" attitude and able to work in a decentralized environment.
- In order to perform successfully in this position, a candidate must demonstrate solid communication skills with the ability and demeanor to establish relationships with internal and external customers. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the willingness to be a team-oriented problem solver.
- Working knowledge and technical skills of MS Office Suite (specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook) is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
In order to successfully perform the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to effectively remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, communicate with others in person and over the phone, and move about inside an office and warehouse. This Position will also require the Employee to Drive a company owned Flat be around Seattle and surrounding areas to pick up and deliver parts as needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and move in excess of 50 lbs. The employee is required to stand; walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position also requires the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Generally, this position is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and fluorescent lighting. It requires the regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. Sitting in a Truck and driving in the Seattle area for hours at times will also be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able and willing to board vessels, move around in small spaces.
