PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Responsible for providing a safe environment for students, employees and visitors to the District. Patrols District property in a highly visible manner to deter physical harm to students, employees and visitors and to prevent burglary, theft or vandalism of District property. Enforces state and federal laws as well as policies, directives and standards of the District.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Patrols assigned campuses and facilities both on foot and in a vehicle within the District's jurisdiction.
2. Responds to calls for assistance from students, District employees and visitors concerning crisis situations, accidents and reports of crime.
3. Investigates all criminal offenses that occur with the District's jurisdiction to include suspicious activities, suspicious people, burglary/fire alarms, traffic accidents and criminal complaints.
4. Conducts criminal investigations by collecting and preserving physical, real, direct, indirect, circumstantial evidence and witness statements.
5. Files appropriate charges against individuals and ensures placement, if necessary, in jail or appropriate juvenile detention center for all subjects in violation of the law.
6. Works traffic enforcement to ensure the safety of students and others in school zones and issues citations as necessary.
7. Executes arrest warrants and serves subpoenas and summons as required.
8. Testifies in court as required.
9. Works cooperatively with other law enforcement agencies to share information and provide assistance as needed.
10. Provides protection to and/or escort service to District personnel as needed.
11. Responds to fire alarms and assists other agencies in the evacuation of school and/or facilities as needed.
12. Compiles, maintains and files all reports, records and documents required, including affidavits for arrests and incident reports.
13. Regularly operates District vehicles and transports students as required.
14. Conducts presentations to school staff on various crime prevention tips and recognition of criminal activity such as gangs and thefts in a school setting.
15. Maintains confidentiality of information.
16. Reports to work on time every day.
17. Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination to include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing and a psychological evaluation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Strenuous walking, running, standing and climbing; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously are essential to performing the duties required in this position. Additionally, the employee is required to regularly operate District vehicles; lift and transport students and witnesses in the performance of assigned duties. The individual must pass a pre-employment physical examination to include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing, and a psychological evaluation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

- Possess own duty gear and equipment, to include, but not limited to: Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 full size 9mm handgun, (3) magazines, handcuffs, and any other personally purchased duty gear or equipment
- Valid Texas Drivers License and must meet the standards set by the State Board of Education, the Department of Transportation, Texas Department of Public Safety and the District and possess an acceptable driving record documented by a Motor Vehicles Record Check
