Outside Sales Representative

National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB)

Date: 5 hours ago
City: Antioch, CA
Salary: $70,000 - $200,000 per year
Contract type: Full time
Overview

Do you want a career with unlimited earning potential while helping small businesses succeed?

At NFIB, your work fuels a mission bigger than any one sale: protecting and promoting the right of independent business owners to thrive.

As the face of NFIB in your local market, you'll meet face-to-face with small business owners, grow membership, and help strengthen the Voice of Small Business. Named one of Glassdoor's Top 50 Best Places to Work, NFIB offers a mission-driven culture, professional sales training, upward mobility, and significant income potential.

Job Summary

We are hiring an Outside Sales Representative to drive new membership growth through prospecting, area management, and face-to-face sales. This field-based B2B sales role focuses on meeting directly with small business owners, delivering sales presentations, overcoming objections, and enrolling new members.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Prospect and engage small business owners in your local area
  • Build quick rapport and establish trust through face-to-face interactions
  • Present NFIB's advocacy mission and membership benefits
  • Identify business needs and recommend solutions
  • Overcome objections and enroll new members
  • Achieve sales goals through prospecting, lead generation, and closing activity
  • Represent NFIB as a trusted advocate for small businesses

This is a hunter/closer role with a structured sales process, an assumptive one-call close, and no account management after the sale, allowing you to focus on prospecting, selling, and growing membership.

Compensation & Benefits

  • W-2 Employee Status with full benefits eligible after 30 days (medical, dental, vision, matching 401(k), and more)
  • 100% Commission Compensation Plan with uncapped earning potential
  • Average Annual Earnings: $80,000-$200,000+
  • Up to 13 weeks of performance-based training pay ($1,000 per week or commissions earned, whichever is greater)
  • Weekly commission payments plus monthly and quarterly bonuses
  • Monthly mileage reimbursement
  • Industry-leading sales training and ongoing professional development
  • Flexible, self-directed work environment with significant independence

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

Sales experience is helpful but not required. We welcome candidates from sales, fundraising, community outreach, recruiting, education, military leadership, business ownership, and other customer-facing backgrounds.

We value drive, coachability, resilience, and work ethic over industry-specific experience.

Successful candidates are

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and competitive drive
  • Resilient, coachable, and professionally persistent
  • Strong communicators who build trust quickly
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Passionate about supporting small businesses and local communities

Why NFIB?

NFIB helps shape public policy and strengthen the voice of independent business owners nationwide. For more than 80 years, we have been the Voice of Small Business in Washington D.C., and all 50 state capitals. As a nonprofit, nonpartisan, member-driven organization, we fight for the rights of independent business owners to help ensure they have a strong voice in government through advocacy, public awareness, and member engagement.
