- Physicians Surgical Hospitals includes two surgical centers - Panhandle Surgical Hospital and Quail Creek Surgical Hospital, and one physical therapy center - Quail Creek Physical Therapy - and a state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging center, Advanced Imaging Center of Amarillo.
Responsibilities
- Enter s , maintain s , and report s all medical his tory, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Patient visit support that may include: Greeting patients , and escorting patient to exam room and/or t aking patients’ vital signs, and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment .
- Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provid es patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
- Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms.
- Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
- Address es and request s referrals and other insurance aut horizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge .
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
- Associate’s degree .
- Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program.
- Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care
- Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) .
