Health Educator, Older Adult & Women-s Health (Call-in/On-Call)

Technical Summary Statement:
Health Education supports Kaiser Permanente members through Healthy Living programs focused on prevention, healthy aging, behavior change, and whole person care across all Georgia service areas. This PRN position facilitates member education classes in virtual and in person settings and may support one or more of the following areas based on program need and candidate expertise: healthy aging, falls prevention, weight management, women-s health, prenatal education, and childbirth preparation. The role partners with Adult Primary Care, Women-s Health, Population Health, and other clinical teams to support member engagement, safety, and improved health outcomes.
Call-In/On-Call Requirement: Employees designated as call-in/on-call must be available to work outside their regular schedules to respond to emergencies, provide shift coverage, or meet urgent operational needs. Availability is required Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Note: Work location is on-site with the flexibility to work remotely, the primary location will be in-office for meetings, per Kaiser Permanente-s Authorized States Policy - Employees may be required to travel to a Kaiser Permanente or customer site. Job Summary:
Presents, and educates on health education programs and services. This includes coordinating and delivering trainings or other educational encounters, assisting in maintaining and updating educational and training resources, and helping to collect and analyze data from classes and programs. Roles in this subfunction also assess and understand the individual needs of trainees, both from a classroom perspective and a broader population perspective.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Helps assesses and understands member needs by: helping identify individual needs, interests, abilities, and a variety of learning styles; adjusting teaching style to meet the needs of participants, to create an inclusive environment which exceeds the needs of diverse individuals; and assisting other health education staff to refer members to additional health promotion resources/services, when appropriate.
- Helps collect, analyze, and report on data by: helping to obtain and enter valid, reliable data such as attendance, utilization, referrals, evaluations, and course assignment scores; helping analyze data and find areas for improvement in the course; and helping present data and findings from courses taught to keep relevant parties informed about course progress and initiatives, including department leaders and other stakeholders.
- Helps educate and train members by: providing evidence-based education information to members in single interactions (e.g., a class, a group or one-on-one encounter); ensuring members learn about a requested content area by providing resources for continued education; creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages learning when interacting with members; and independently providing information or resources that help translate evidence-based concepts into simple and understandable information for members.
- Helps design training by: helping design interactive activities, assignments, and testing appropriate for the goals of each encounter and/or course learning outcomes; helping develop high-quality, culturally responsive multi-media health education materials; and helping identify content changes and collaborating to update member-facing materials.
- Maintains resources by: recommending updates to multimedia health information resources; maintaining the database of educational resources and materials independently; and ordering new educational resources and materials independently.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Counseling, Education, Psychology, Nursing, Nutrition or a directly related field, OR Minimum three (3) years of experience in health-related education or a directly related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification - Certified Diabetes Educator.
- Certification - Diplomat of Lifestyle Medicine.
- One (1) year of experience in health-related education or a directly related field.
- One (1) year of experience in healthcare environment or similar environment.
- One (1) year of experience teaching classes or conducting training programs.
