Job Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for performing service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities at customer sites in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This role supports a variety of mechanical, electrical, diesel, and other technical systems, depending on the business unit. The technician will conduct preventative maintenance, manage parts inventory, identify and address safety concerns, and provide excellent customer support while working across multiple locations and technologies.
Success in this role requires strong troubleshooting skills, critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment for employees, customers, and contractors.
- Follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems in the field.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on customer and company-owned equipment.
- Manage and maintain parts inventory as needed.
- Identify and resolve safety concerns related to equipment and job sites.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment status, repairs, and recommendations.
- Demonstrate accountability, innovation, and ownership in daily work activities.
- Protect and properly maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Collaborate with team members while also working independently when required.
- Travel to customer locations to perform service and support activities.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to obtain a Class A or Class B CDL with applicable endorsements.
Experience
- 0–2 years of technical field service, maintenance, or related experience preferred.
- Previous mechanical, electrical, diesel, or industrial equipment experience is a plus.
- Customer service experience required.
- Ability to obtain customer-required clearances, including TWIC, DISA, and other site-specific credentials.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card.
- Clean driving record required.
Technical Skills
- Mechanical, electrical, diesel or related technical experience
- Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and smart devices.
- Ability to analyze technical information and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical solutions in the field.
Driving Requirements
Candidates must and maintain company driving standards and be eligible to complete all required driver qualification documentation, including:
- Driver Application for Employment
- Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- Driver Disclosure and Release
- Employee Applicant Drug and Alcohol Statement
- FMCSA Certificate of Awareness
- Driver Certificate of Violations
- Driver Statement of On-Duty Hours
- Road Test Documentation
- Valid Driver’s License
- Medical Certificate
The estimated salary range for this position is $26 to $29. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
