Director, Accounting Strategy & Financial Analysis

Job Summary:
Tenaska Marketing Ventures (TMV) is seeking a strategic and commercially minded accounting and finance leader to join our Omaha, NE office as Director, Accounting Strategy & Financial Analysis. The Director will partner closely with and report to the VP and Controller, driving financial insight, accounting analysis, and strategic support for organization-wide decision-making. This role complements operational accounting oversight by delivering forward-looking analysis, strengthening financial controls, and translating complex financial data into actionable recommendations for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
A core responsibility of this position will be to maintain and strengthen relationships with lender banks and external financial partners. The Director will represent the company in lender meetings, industry forums, and networking events, serving as a trusted and credible point of contact and ensuring clear and consistent communication of the company’s financial position and performance.
In addition, this role will evaluate the financial implications of transactions and strategic initiatives, identify emerging trends and risks, and contribute towards ongoing advancement of accounting processes and reporting quality. The Director will serve as a critical bridge between strategy and execution by anticipating business needs, elevating analytical rigor, and enabling more informed and proactive decision-making across the organization.
Location: Onsite in Omaha, NE
Essential Job Functions:
- Support the management and strengthening of lender bank and external financial partner relationships by proactively managing communications, coordinating engagement, preparing materials for meetings, and representing the company in select meetings and industry events
- Serve as a technical accounting resource, ensuring accounting positions are well researched, appropriately supported, and clearly documented in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies
- Evaluate and advise on the accounting and financial implications of proposed transactions, structures, and strategic initiatives prior to execution, providing clear guidance to support informed decision-making
- Analyze financial results, performance metrics, and ad hoc reporting to deliver meaningful insights, trend analysis, and recommendations that inform strategic and operational decisions
- Partner with senior leadership to monitor liquidity, interest rate exposure, and other key financial indicators, providing timely analysis, scenario perspectives, and recommendations to support business strategy and planning
- Support tax planning and compliance activities, including projections and financial analysis to inform strategic tax positioning and decision-making
- Provide technical accounting guidance and conduct research related to compliance filings, regulatory reporting, and statutory requirements, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards
- Contribute towards the continuous advancement of accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of financial information across the organization
- Collaborate cross-functionally to translate financial data into actionable insights, supporting strategic initiatives and ensuring alignment between financial execution and business objectives
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 8 – 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Ability to manage competing priorities and operate with a high sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
- Travel: 0 – 10%
Preferred Requirements:
- Master’s degree in accounting
- CPA designation or eligibility
- Experience in public and/or private accounting
- Experience leading, mentoring, or developing team members or serving as a key resource across accounting or finance functions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
- High level of integrity, dependability, and strong attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and support effective decision-making
