The purpose of this job is to provide support for student health screenings and assist with the on-site set up and implementation of body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure screenings.

Note: Since this position is funded by the grant, continuation in the position is contingent upon funding from year-to-year and staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times.
• Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to school and other stakeholders.
• Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
• Ensures screening equipment is in proper working order.
• Prepares and secures permission forms for each school for BMI data collection.
• Prepares screening rosters and result letters to school.
• Coordinates site visits with school personnel.
• Enters health data as directed by the coordinated school health specialist.
• Assists the Coordinated School Health Coordinator with educational programs, school events, and other projects as necessary.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Communicates through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
• Follows established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe.
• Works collaboratively with school staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
• Attends work and arrives to work on time.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
• Operates a vehicle to travel to various sites within the district to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Performs basic maintenance of equipment.
• Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, sending/receiving faxes, or filing documentation.
• Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence as required.
• Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; operates general office/school equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

Knowledge/Education/Experience

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• One (1) year of experience with job tasks relating to body mass index, blood pressure or other health screenings preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required;
• or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Compensation

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.

Minimum Salary - $16.27/hour
