Western Health Advantage (WHA) is seeking an accomplished, visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to join our Executive Leadership Team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a strategic technology executive to modernize enterprise systems, advance digital transformation, and help deliver innovative healthcare solutions that improve the experience of our members, providers, employer groups, and brokers.

As CIO, you will define and execute the organization's enterprise technology strategy while ensuring secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective technology solutions that support our mission and long-term strategic objectives. You will partner closely with executive leadership and the Board to align technology investments with business priorities and position WHA for continued growth and innovation.

About The Role

Reporting as a key member of the executive leadership team, the CIO provides strategic leadership for:

  • Enterprise IT strategy and governance
  • Infrastructure and cloud platforms
  • Enterprise applications and systems integration
  • Business intelligence technologies
  • Technology operations and service delivery
  • IT financial management and vendor partnerships
  • Digital transformation initiatives
  • Emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence

The CIO collaborates extensively with executive leadership, including the CEO, CFO, and Chief Legal Officer, to ensure technology capabilities support organizational performance, regulatory compliance, and exceptional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization's enterprise technology strategy and multi-year technology roadmap.
  • Lead enterprise infrastructure, cloud services, application development, integration platforms, and technology operations.
  • Ensure enterprise systems deliver exceptional availability, scalability, performance, disaster recovery readiness, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align technology investments with strategic business objectives.
  • Support enterprise AI initiatives and evaluate emerging technologies that enhance operational effectiveness and member experience.
  • Establish strong IT governance, project management disciplines, and technology standards.
  • Lead vendor strategy, contract negotiations, and third-party technology partnerships.
  • Partner with Information Security leadership to implement cybersecurity, privacy, and risk management strategies across enterprise systems.
  • Support enterprise data architecture and business intelligence platforms that enable advanced analytics and organizational reporting.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT leadership team while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Master's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of executive leadership experience directing enterprise Information Technology organizations.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership and Boards of Directors to develop technology strategy.
  • Strong background managing enterprise infrastructure, cloud technologies, systems integration, application development, and technology operations.
  • Significant experience negotiating complex technology and vendor contracts.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture, IT governance, service management, Agile, DevOps, ITIL, Six Sigma, and related methodologies.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries; healthcare or health plan experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience developing and managing large technology budgets.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and executive leadership skills.
