Join Tulsa City-County Library as a Library Cataloging Specialist and play a vital role behind the scenes in helping thousands of customers connect with the books, movies, music, and digital resources they're looking for The Library Cataloging Specialist will create and maintain accurate bibliographic records that keep our catalog running smoothly and ensure library materials are easy to find. • Creates and updates bibliographic records for multiple types of materials; including media and monographic records of various formats;
• Assigns appropriate Dewey Decimal numbers for nonfiction materials and call numbers using other schemes as appropriate;
• Applies various local policies to bibliographic records while cataloging;
• Ensures authority records and subject headings are correct, and access points are accurate and adequate;
• Participates in cataloging projects and assists with catalog cleanup, making updates, and correcting errors as needed;
• Knowledge of RDA, AACRII, LC-PCC PSs, MARC, Dewey Decimal classification system, and LCSH;
• Ability to understand the needs of customers and connect them to the right resource or service at the right time;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required;
• One year of library experience required; cataloging experience preferred;
• Equivalent combination of technical training, education, and/or experience.

Location: Support Services Center - 1339 N. Lansing Tulsa, OK. 74106 Salary: $21.10/hr Status: Full time 40 hours/week Competitive pay and a full benefit package (medical, dental, retirement pension, paid time off) are offered with this position. Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm Physical Activity & Environmental Conditions Work occasionally requires stooping and bending. Occasional light lifting such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required. There are usually no major sources of discomfort; work is essentially conducted in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions. Some positions require considerable physical exertion, such as regularly lifting heavy items (up to 80 pounds) such as carts or crates full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.
