JOB SUMMARY
The Behavioral Health Coordinator serves as a frontline clinical leader responsible for supervising Behavioral Health Technicians and Medication Specialist, providing direct clinical services, supporting program operations, ensuring documentation compliance, and assisting the Clinical Director in maintaining high-quality resident care and effective program implementation. The position combines clinical oversight, staff supervision, operational coordination, and resident support to ensure the success of Hope Haven's therapeutic community model.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise Behavioral Health Technicians and other assigned staff; provide coaching, guidance, performance feedback, and professional development; conduct monthly supervision meetings; support onboarding and training of new employees.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of clinical documentation, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and shift reports; maintain compliance with agency, state, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with implementation and enforcement of program policies and procedures; participate in daily operations; support quality assurance and program effectiveness initiatives.
- Review, approve, and manage staff schedules; oversee payroll submissions for direct reports; ensure adequate staffing coverage and operational efficiency.
- Address resident concerns and behavioral issues; collaborate with counselors and treatment staff to support treatment planning, transitions, and discharge processes.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Clinical Director and multidisciplinary team; participate in treatment team meetings, administrative meetings, and organizational initiatives.
- Provide direct facility support when needed; assist with crisis management, staff coverage, and resident supervision; ensure continuity of services.
- Promote staff growth through coaching and education; ensure completion of required trainings; support implementation of evidence-based practices and best-practice standards.
- Provide professional assistance to residents, visitors, and community partners; maintain positive working relationships; represent Hope Haven in a professional manner.
- Foster collaboration, professionalism, accountability, and respect among staff; model effective conflict resolution and teamwork skills; contribute to a positive therapeutic environment.
- Connect residents to community resources, recovery support, and 12-Step programs; promote recovery-oriented systems of care and resident engagement in treatment.
- Support Medication room staff with disposal of medications or any other duties needing assistance.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in substance use disorder and/or mental health client care, staff supervision, or leadership roles.
- Demonstrated emotional stability, maturity, warmth, and openness, with the ability to work effectively and compassionately with a diverse and underserved population.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license and eligibility for coverage under Hope Haven’s insurance carrier.
- Willingness and ability to provide direct support and coverage within the facility on a 24/7 basis as operational needs require.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant laws, policies, and procedures pertaining to client care and staff supervision.
- Commitment to fulfilling all training and professional development requirements as established by Hope Haven, Inc.
- Familiarity with community resources that support client recovery, and the ability to connect clients to appropriate services.
- Strong interpersonal and engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with residents, colleagues, and community partners.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively.
- In-depth understanding of the dynamics of addiction and evidence-based treatment modalities for substance use disorders.
- Knowledge of counseling theories and best practices for individuals with substance use disorders, and the ability to apply these effectively.
- Familiarity with recovery support systems and a demonstrated commitment to the principles and practices of 12-Step recovery programs.
