Job Description

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Assembler I is responsible for assembling parts to form subassemblies or complete units using hand tools, small power tools, and other special equipment. In addition, assemblers may reassemble, or rework units as required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Produces quality products by assembling equipment sub-assemblies, on one or more assembly lines in accordance with engineering specifications and procedures, adjusting, and measuring to exact tolerances.
  • Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints.
  • Lay out hole locations, drill and tap holes on parts for assembly.
  • Verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts.
  • Assemble, set-up and operate machine to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to specifications with wrenches, tools, calipers and gauges to accomplish task at each level.
  • Perform quality of work inspections on all parts and components assembled, including comparing the finished parts to blueprint requirements.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with safety processes.
  • May perform basic wiring on some sub-assemblies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with mechanical, electrical, and related components assemblies preferred.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form, collect/analyze data and prepare findings.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use basic machine shop equipment, hand tools, forklift, crane and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height and depth gauges).
  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet production's needs as well as flexibility to work around scheduled production hours.
  • Must have a high level of safety awareness and maintain a record of good safety habits.
