Job Description
The Economics Program at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach ECO 250. Intermediate Microeconomic Theory, in the fall 2026 semester. The course is scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:30-3:45 pm. The course will be non-calculus based. The priority is to evenly split each week between microeconomic theory and contemporary, real-world applications of the theory.
Course Description/information
ECO 250. Intermediate Microeconomic Theory. 3 Credit Hours.
Microeconomics studies the behavior of individual participants within the economic system. Models are developed and evaluated which, explain the choices of consumers, producers, and government agents related to consumption, production, and distribution of goods and services within the economy. Significant attention is paid to market theory, pricing policies, and incentive facing firms in different market environments ranging from the very competitive to the monopoly. Concepts covered include profit maximization and methods of optimization, indifference curves, economic efficiency, market failure, resource markets, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, externalities, and public goods.
Prerequisites: ECO 113 and ECO 114.
Requirements
Applicants must possess an Economics Ph.D, be an Economic doctoral student or possess an Economics master’s degree. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a strong record of teaching.
Additional Information
Range: Pending the applicant’s educational background, field of study, and whether applying to teach at the undergraduate or graduate level, adjunct instructor beginning salaries range from $1,084 to $1,435 per credit hour, i.e., $3,255 to $4,305 per three-credit hour course.
