Technical Data Analyst, Clinical Lab - Hybrid in Aliso Viejo, CA

The Technical Data Analyst is responsible for acting as the source for accessing, compiling, analyzing, and presenting technical laboratory data, as appropriate, to the lab management team and other stakeholders. In this capacity, the Technical Data Analyst will stay abreast of industry trends such as AI, machine learning, and other technologies to enhance and optimize data. The role may include being involved in process or quality improvement projects and is responsible for supporting leaders to make data-driven decisions for efficient workflows and implementing changes or improvements as needed.

The Technical Data Analyst is expected to work across departments to ensure best practices, train relevant teams, assess needs, and identify, create, and customize impactful solutions. The incumbent is expected to be self-motivated and a self-starter and create, organize, execute, and complete assignments and projects on time including setting deadlines, communicating status with leadership across departments, and adjusting scope and timelines as necessary based on new requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Become a subject matter expert in clinical lab data
  • Maintain and update data mapping through regular audits to ensure integrity and maintain expected standards
  • Conduct gap analyses to understand and troubleshoot issues by collecting relevant data or statistics, as appropriate, and generate meaningful data visualization for driving operational excellence
  • Support data collection and reporting for Effectiveness Verification Checks (EVCs) to improve quality metrics based on data trends
  • Maintain and contribute to the Clinical Lab QC and World-Class Operator dashboard
  • Own version control of data mapping documents
  • Assist with developing and ensuring appropriate implementation of policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Communicate project status of data accessibility and monitoring by preparing standard reports and meeting minutes
  • Serve as the point of contact on day-to-day questions related to data needs
  • Resolve technical issues or gaps by working with internal and external team members
  • Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options on how to progress with the assignment
  • Motivate, delegate, and train, where appropriate, to complete projects and tasks on time
  • Coordinate change control protocols, as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • For BS, 2+ years of experience with working knowledge of software systems and/or relevant clinical operations experience is required
  • For MS, relevant experience in data science or statistical analysis is required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio)
  • Proficient in Tableau
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Competent at handling large and complex data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated success working with a team
  • Ability to multi-task and influence without authority
  • Experience facilitating meetings
  • Strong understanding of business unit function and cross-group dependencies/relationships

Preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification preferred

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
