West Coast Self-Storage Group (WCSS) has a full-time opening in Everett, WA (100% on-site) for a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP). The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and on-site partner, supporting key areas of human resources including employee relations, benefits administration, retirement plans, recruitment, and overall HR operations. This role is vital in maintaining a productive, compliant, and engaged workforce and plays a critical role in driving the company's culture and HR strategy.

General Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and performance management, ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.
  • Monitor and analyze key HR metrics and KPIs such as turnover, time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, and engagement.
  • Coordinate and assist with the administration of benefit and retirement programs.
  • Partner with hiring managers to facilitate the hiring of quality applicants.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding, as needed.
  • Maintain and audit HRIS data in Paylocity for accuracy and compliance, on a routine basis.
  • Assist in developing and communicating HR policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate on workforce planning, employee engagement, and organizational development initiatives.
  • Participate in HR-related audits and compliance reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive employee information.

Essential Job Duties By HR Function

Employee Relations & Organizational Development (30–50%)

  • Investigate and resolve workplace issues, complaints, and conflicts.
  • Coach managers on employee performance, documentation, and development plans.
  • Conduct corrective action meetings and exit interviews.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Maintain documentation related to employee relations cases.
  • Audit HRIS data for accuracy and compliance, including onboarding completion rates, I-9 timelines, and training completions.
  • Evaluate pulse surveys, engagement scores, and exit interview data to pinpoint trends and recommend retention strategies.
  • Measure training & performance review completion rates, ratings distribution, and calibration outcomes in performance review cycles utilizing HRIS analytics.
  • Partner with managers to align employee performance data with business goals and departmental outcomes.
  • Identify high-potential employees using performance and potential metrics for development pipeline.

Recruitment (15–25%)

  • Assist with full-cycle recruiting: job posting, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers on workforce needs and job descriptions.
  • Coordinate interview scheduling, candidate communications, and offers.
  • Support electronic HRIS new hire onboarding.
  • Track recruiting metrics and help improve hiring processes.

Benefits & Retirement (10–20%)

  • Track employee benefits usage and participation trends to evaluate cost-effectiveness and employee satisfaction.
  • Aid in administration of open enrollment, life event changes, and ACA reporting.
  • Coordinate with HRD on benefit vendors and brokers on plan renewals and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with benefit and retirement plan regulations.
  • Support 401(k) education and compliance, including nondiscrimination testing coordination.

Special Projects & Generalist Functions (10–15%)

  • Manage Safety initiatives and OSHA compliance, including 300 logs.
  • Participate in HRIS optimization and system integrations.
  • Contribute to organizational change and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support employee engagement surveys and action planning.
  • Assist with compliance reporting (EEO-1, VETS-4212, 5500).
  • Lead or support HR trainings and wellness initiatives.

Skills And Abilities

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive/advancing experience in Human Resources.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
  • Previous multi-state experience.
  • Ability to travel – up to 5%
  • Proficient in Paylocity or similar HRIS/payroll platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams.
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Compensation

$80k - $90k DOE

20% annual bonus potential
