Air Med is seeking a dynamic Director of Operations to lead and elevate performance across multiple Air Med bases. In this high-impact role, you will shape strategic direction, champion clinical and operational excellence, and ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance, and readiness. You’ll use data-driven insight, strong leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance efficiency and drive results.

As a key strategic partner to Air Med Operations Management and the Quality Improvement Coordinator, you will influence system-wide initiatives and ensure alignment with AirMed’s mission. Success in this role requires a proactive, solutions-focused leader with deep knowledge of the Airmen’s Informational Manual and Air Med Services Operations Specifications—and a passion for advancing critical care transport at the highest level.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Provide strategic and operational oversight for multiple bases, ensuring seamless daily operations, clinical excellence, safety, and FAA regulatory compliance.
• Leverage operational data and key performance metrics (refusals, drop times, fuel usage, ticket accuracy, staffing, inventory, aircraft/station readiness, and compliance activities) to identify trends, drive improvements, and support strategic planning.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Air Med Management team, promoting a high-performance culture aligned with organizational goals.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation, including vacation planning, to ensure consistent coverage and operational continuity.
• Oversee administrative and financial functions, including payroll approval, petty cash monitoring, and participation in budgeting and monthly P&L review.
• Strengthen partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including hospital partners, customers, and community representatives; manage customer contracts for Fixed Wing and Rotor Wing services.
• Partner with aviation operator to ensure proper contract execution.
• Support onboarding, training, and ongoing competency development to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
• Communicate critical operational developments to the Vice President and key leadership in real time and provide insights on competitor activity.
• Administer corrective and disciplinary actions, including coaching, written notices, suspensions, and terminations with required approvals.
• Lead or support organizational initiatives, including departmental meetings, public meetings, disaster preparedness drills, special assignments, and resolution of daily shift report items.
• Maintain 24/7 availability to support district operations and respond to emergent operational needs.
  
  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous leadership experience preferred.
• National and/or State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required (determined by appropriate state requirements)
• FPC or CFRN
• Maintain social, ethical and organizational norms.
• Maintain good personal motivation; develop a sense of ownership of job tasks and results.
• Must have a sense of urgency for all work performed.
• Ability to work under the pressure of meeting strict deadlines.
